Dusit International’s first all-inclusive resort has strong appeal for families and young couples
Dusit Thani Maldives resort’s ‘little sister’, DusitD2 Feydhoo, opens this month in Male’ Atoll. For luxury Thai hotel brand, Dusit International, this marks their first ever opening of an all-inclusive ‘lifestyle resort’. And since the resort is located only seven minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport, this means you can be sipping a mojito on the beach in the blink of an eye. July 27th is the ‘soft opening’, with the official opening coming this autumn. (‘Kids stay free’ is normally only a short-term special offer at Maldivian resorts, or typically only applies to toddlers.) DusitD2 Feydhoo is located on a natural island which locals will know used to be a Maldivian police training camp but it has been transformed into a five-star paradise complete with a beach club featuring a rooftop bar, plus five restaurants. Under the All-Inclusive Plan, guests can enjoy à la carte dining across all five venues, unlimited premium beverages, daily entertainment, and generous resort credits for indulgences like spa treatments.
As you can see, the villas are designed and decorated in a tropical style, evoking the feeling of a luxury beach house. This contrasts with the contemporary Thai design blended with Maldivian influences of its sister resort, Dusit Thani. The unusual shape of this natural island is due to the fact it was expanded at one end in particular by land reclamation over a shallow part of the lagoon in order to extend the beach space, create room for a tennis court and the Namm Spa, and make way for the Two Bedroom Overwater Pool Villas. However, since it was a cosmetic enhancement rather than an island being built from scratch, you’ll be able to enjoy natural, mature tropical trees, shrubs and flowers, as well as a thriving coral reef.
