New cultural festival will showcase top DJs, artists, wellness gurus, chefs, and much more
The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands has joined forces with Patina Maldives to create a new event to stimulate their guests’ minds, bodies and souls – the Fari Islands Festival. Between 19 and 22 September, guests staying at both of the resorts will be able to mingle with and learn from an array of cultural, creative and lifestyle talent.
The four-day programme is composed to offer guests the opportunity to connect with thought leaders, creators and innovators in ways that are immersive, original and authentic.
At the majority of resorts in the Maldives, guests only have access to the resort they are booked into because there’s almost always only one resort per island, and most guests don’t want to pay for the costly private transfers between other resorts. But the shared access agreement that these two Marriott International resort islands have make it the perfect spot for a collaboration.

Highlights of the Fari Island Festival will include British DJ Kim Turnbull, and Canadian poet and illustrator, Rupi Kaur. Rupi will deliver a series of intimate readings and reflective dialogues exploring language, emotion and personal truth.
Guests curious about the rich marine life surrounding the resorts can drop by to meet Kenyan National Geographic Explorer and shark scientist, Gibbs Kuguru. He is taking part in the Fari Islands Festival in partnership with the Maldives’ own Olive Ridley Project – a turtle research and rehabilitation NGO. Gibbs will lead a series of sessions designed to deepen awareness of the fragile marine ecosystems. They include guided snorkelling trips, conservation workshops and reflective discussions.
Mindfulness and movement sessions will be provided at the Fari Islands Festival in the form of Body, Mind and Soul: The Bamford Experience. It be hosted by British wellness expert CJ Jones-Leake alongside Irish sustainability advocate and former professional rugby player, Anthony Mullally. They will be leading grounding rituals including breathwork, movement, and integrative therapies.

For epicureans, Tokyo-born culinary collective Wagyumafia will be showcasing the world’s most prized protein. Their Kobe beef ritual will be presented through a limited series of curated dinners. Mixologists from award-winning Singaporean cocktail destination, Nutmeg and Clove, will also take over the islands’ bars with spirited artistry.
More artists and collaborators are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Discussing the Fari Islands Festival, General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Oscar Postma, said: “At The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, we honour the rhythm of nature and the richness of human connection.
“The Fari Islands Festival reflects that ethos, a gathering where culture, creativity and community come together with intention. It is an invitation to slow down, to listen deeply and to be moved by the beauty of meaningful exchange”.

The Ritz-Carlton Maldives and Patina Maldives are located adjacent to each other in the same lagoon in North Male’ Atoll. Uniquely, guests of these two resorts have free access to both islands via a complimentary boat service, although normally you’ll need a restaurant reservation at the Ritz-Carlton should you wish to visit it from Patina. However, during the Fari Islands Festival there is no such stipulation. Guests of both resorts also have full access to the Fari Marina Village, which is a special feature of Patina Maldives. The Fari Marina Village hosts a collection of restaurants, berthing facilities, boutiques, and an art gallery.
General Manager of Patina Maldives, Anthony Gill, added: “Patina Maldives was created as a place of purposeful presence, where guests are invited not only to passively experience but to participate.
“This festival extends that vision, encouraging guests to connect actively and meaningfully with ideas, artists and the natural world.”
You can reserve a place at Fari Islands Festival via Patina Maldives or The Ritz Carlton Maldives.
