Family-friendly programme includes kids staying for free
Holiday Inn Kandooma Maldives has revealed a host of activities encompassing dining, wellness and family fun for guests celebrating Lunar New Year at the Male’ Atoll resort. Also known as Spring Festival, or Chinese New Year, the celebrations will welcome in 2026 – the ‘Year of the Fire Horse’. The resort’s special Lunar New Year festival programme will run from February 16th to 21st.
Festive meals are at the centre of the Lunar New Year celebrations at Holiday Inn Kandooma. Guests can share in a Prosperity Yu Sheng (or Lo Hei) ceremony. Yusheng is a salad made with fresh, raw fish, shredded vegetables, seasoning and condiments. Traditionally, families and friends gather together to toss the yusheng into the air for good fortune. The higher the toss, the greater the luck.
There will also be Hot Pot evenings at The Asian Kitchen, one of Holiday Inn Kandooma’s seven restaurants and bars. There’s a choice of two savoury broths, fresh vegetables, noodles, premium Angus beef slices, tiger prawns, pork belly, and fish balls.

On February 19th, The Asian Kitchen will host a Seafood Fiesta. The spread will include fresh sushi, sashimi, sand lobster, Norwegian salmon, and more. Meat lovers will be catered for as well, with a choice of grass-fed beef sirloin, lamb cutlets, roasted Beijing Duck, crispy pork belly, and more.
The Lunar New Year programme at Holiday Inn Kandooma is designed as a family-friendly celebration. As such, it includes special offers to appeal to all ages. Kids will be allowed to stay at the resort and dine at every restaurant there for free. This offer is available for up to two children under 13 years old. And on Lunar New Year’s Day (February 17th), children can enjoy special activities at the resort’s Kandoo Kids’ Club. There will be a wishing tree, red-envelope treasure hunts, crafts and festive games. This supervised kids’ club is free for any kids aged from four to 12 years old.
Because the Lunar New Year also invites renewal, there will be special offers during Spring Festival on spa rituals which focus on balance and gentle rejuvenation. They include Kandooma Spa’s Express Facial for less than half price, and a half-price Full-Body Exfoliation. The resort’s programme of wellness and movement activities includes sunrise and sunset yoga, stand-up paddle-boarding yoga, and new ‘Salt & Sound’ healing sessions.
Throughout the Lunar New Year celebrations, guests will be supported by Chinese-language menus. Multilingual staff, including Mandarin-speakers, will also be on hand if required. To view Holiday Inn Kandooma’s Lunar New Year programme, click here.
